Bengaluru PRR Road: Bangalore Peripheral Ring Road - Nice Road Extn.

WHAT IS BENGALURU (BANGALORE) PRR ROAD

Bengaluru Peripheral Ring Road Map

The Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) is a flagship infrastructure project aimed at decongesting Bangalore's core traffic, enhancing regional connectivity, and supporting the city's rapid urban expansion. Planned as a 73 km expressway that completes the circular network around the city, the PRR is envisioned as a critical economic and mobility corridor, complementing the partially completed NICE Road, which currently spans 40 km from Tumkur Road to Hosur Road.

BACKGROUND: FROM NICE ROAD TO PRR ROAD

The NICE Road (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Road) was initially conceived to form a complete ring around Bangalore. However, only a section between Tumkur Road and Hosur Road was constructed, leaving the remainder of the peripheral ring incomplete. To bridge this gap, the Peripheral Ring Road project was conceptualized under the Bangalore Business Corridor initiative, with a development budget of approximately Rs 27,000 crore. It is being planned and executed by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in collaboration with state and central agencies.

WHY BENGALURU (BANGALORE) PRR MATTERS

As Bangalore continues to evolve into a global metropolitan hub, infrastructure like the Peripheral Ring Road is essential for balancing growth with livability. By offering a robust outer mobility corridor, the PRR will not only enhance intra-city and inter-city movement, but also unlock new economic zones that will define the city's future.
